The 23rd annual Queensland Landcare Conference blew in to Ayr, one hour south of Townsville in 2011. Again, Wombat Creative was engaged by local landcare hosts, Lower Burdekin Landcare, to help them turn all of their ideas into reality. We helped Queensland Conservation Council, the state’s peak body, celebrate their 40th anniversary in style. Some 250 people attended a gala event, doubling as a fundraiser, to wish the organisation a happy 40th birthday and celebrate the years that had passed. Queensland Conservation has had an impressive history, responsible for lobbying for the protection of many special places. The 2008 Queensland Landcare Conference, held in Monto, was the 19th annual event held in the state. Contracted by conference host, North Burnett Landcare, we took on every aspect of event management – from booking speakers, to erecting a tent city in the showgrounds, to sweeping out the stud cattle arena for 300 delegates.
